Norfolk Recreation Refund/Credit Policy


When you register for one of our programs, we depend on your participation to make it successful. We plan for staff and supplies based on registration numbers. If you would like to withdraw, please make your request in writing by emailing us at recreation@norfolk.ma.us.
Full refunds will be made if: 
  • A program is canceled by the Recreation Department
  • The Department makes changes that prohibit your attendance and you let the Department know within one week of the change notification.
  • There is a medical issue confirmed by a doctor’s note
  • The school calendar changes prohibiting attendance
 
If a cancellation is requested for any other reason and if a waitlist exists for that program and we successfully fill your spot from our waitlist, a refund will be given less a processing/cancellation fee, but this takes time. While we will do our best to help you, please do not expect a refund or credit if your cancellation request is within 7 days of the start of the program.
 
Administration fees for cancellations are as follows:
  • Programs with fees of $50 or less: $5 administration fee
  • Programs with fees of $51-$100: $10 administration fee
  • Programs with fees $101 and greater: 10% of the cost of the program
 
We recognize that there may be extenuating circumstances that do not fit neatly into a policy. If you feel that extenuating circumstances apply to your request, please be in touch. Final refund decisions will be at the sole discretion of the Recreation Director.

Transfer from one program to another program.
Transfers are done in the office and are only allowed if the initial program still has enough participants to run.
If the new program fee is less and within 10% of the original fee, the transfer will be considered an even exchange. If the new program fee is less by more than 10%, a refund for the difference less 10% will be issued. If the new program fee is more, the additional fee is due at the time of the transfer.
