Lost & Found Policy

NORFOLK RECREATION
Lost and Found Policy

Participants are encouraged to clearly label all personal belongings with their name when attending Norfolk Recreation programs or facilities. Norfolk Recreation is not responsible for lost or misplaced items, but are happy to and will make reasonable efforts to assist with recovery.
  • If an item is found and the owner is identifiable through our registration system, staff will attempt to contact the owner. If the owner is contacted, they have one month to collect their item.
  • Unclaimed items are held for a minimum of one (1) month. While we typically hold items longer when possible, we cannot guarantee storage beyond one month.
Multi-day programs:
  • Items left behind will be kept at the program site and available for pickup each day.
  • At the conclusion of the final day, unclaimed items will be brought to the Recreation office and held for a minimum of one (1) month.
Disposal and Donation:
  • After the minimum holding period, usable or salvageable items will be donated depending on their condition.
  • Broken or unusable items will be recycled when possible or disposed of safely.
  • Textiles not donated will be recycled in accordance with Massachusetts law.
  • Typical sporting equipment and clothing are not considered salvage items.
Food and beverage containers may be disposed of immediately for health and safety reasons.

High-value items (such as jewelry or car keys) will be posted on local Facebook pages. If unclaimed, they will be turned over to the Norfolk Police Department.

Anyone who has lost an item may contactNorfolk Recreation at
